She graduated at the top of her college class and possesses all the skills of the finest minds in British intelligence.... In this daring debut, Susan Elia MacNeal blends meticulous research on the era, psychological insight into Winston Churchill, and the creation of a riveting main character, Maggie Hope, into a spectacularly crafted novel." Maybe you've wondered about this astronomical phenomenon known as eclipses. What exactly is an eclipse? How many different kinds are there? What's the difference between a solar eclipse and a lunar eclipse? When do they happen? These and other questions will be answered in this presentation that give you an appreciation of what they are just days before the United States will be experiencing an actual solar eclipse. We will touch on a variety of topics including: how Christopher Columbus used knowledge of a lunar eclipse to get out of a jam with a group of natives; how during a total solar eclipse the dark goes dark, temperatures fall, and animals and birds act as though it is nighttime.

On Monday, August 21st, there will be a solar eclipse. Dr. Kawano will share the hows, whys and stories of solar eclipses. Don't miss this opportunity to prepare for this spectacular natural event.
Open to everyone.
