It used to be that when I heard that a book I enjoyed was being made into a film, I would groan inwardly. However, after a few adaptations that have turned out quite well, I now take a “wait and see” attitude towards these films.

“With great power, comes great responsibility… “

Last night I dreamt bombs, one after another, compressed and yet violent. The bombs in my dreams are always nuclear and always scary, but the bombs from last night were not. Like any loud explosions that take place, there were repercussions, and whether they were good or bad, remains to be seen. I awoke, the dream, confusingly unfinished.

RCLS Will Keep Open Hours

RCLS Will Keep Open Hours

The Riverside County Library System will not reduce any hours of operation for the 2010-11 fiscal year. Even though the overall budget of the Riverside County Library will decrease by about 10%--as are most County departments—hours and levels of service will remain unchanged this year.

 In a study conducted by the National Endowment for the Arts, they found that teens and young adults read less often and for shorter amounts of time when compared with other age groups. According to the National Endowment for the Arts, “[…] in 2004 NEA reported and identified a critical decline in reading for pleasure among American adults”.
